Modern values and a history of care

Did you know Geelong Community Care Chemist is a not-for-profit pharmacy group, serving the local community since 1898?

Part of the Friendly Societies Model, CCC is the only not-for-profit pharmacy group in the Greater Geelong region.

Formerly known as Geelong United Friendly Society, Community Care Chemist has grown to include six pharmacy locations throughout the region. See our locations here.

Although medicine affordability and control has improved throughout history with introduction of Medicare and the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS), we continue our proud tradition of providing value and exceptional care to help the Geelong community live well.

Unlike other pharmacies, our profits are not retained by the individual pharmacies. Our surpluses are reinvested back into our pharmacies and the community, through health education, sponsorship, donations or direct benefits for our members.

The other big difference at Community Care Chemist is our people. As CEO Nick Salkeld explains,  staff care about their work and the people they serve.

While CCC’s commitment to community remains unchanged, the organisation is updating its organisational values to better reflect what’s important today. These values are based around connection with the community, accountability, respect and energy.

“We encourage every member of the CCC team to model our values every day,” says Nick.
