Community Care Chemist has relocated from its former Gordon Street premises to the vibrant heart of Pakington Street. Now located in the old Gloria Jean’s building, the staff at Community Care Chemist have already noticed an abundance of foot traffic entering the pharmacy.
Community Care Chemist Geelong West manager and pharmacist Erin Meys says “people just weren’t finding us on Gordon Avenue”. “We needed to be somewhere more accessible for our members.” Erin, who has worked at Community Care Chemist for five years, is especially excited about the pharmacy’s new location.
“Being on Pakington Street is vibrant and exciting,” she smiles. “Along with the move, we’ve also added a new team leader and an extra pharmacist to the store.” Erin says the team at the pharmacy “have a big focus on the community”, given that it is community or member owned.
“We are a not-for-profit friendly society pharmacy, so all of our profits are reinvested back into the business and community. “Community Care Chemist is also a very progressive pharmacy. The pharmacy industry is facing some real challenges and Community Care Chemist is using this as an impetus to keep evolving so that we can continue to meet the needs of our customers,” she says. Committed to serving their customers with a “whole health and whole heart” approach, the team at Community Care Chemist offer holistic health solutions.
From traditional medicines as well as nutritional supplements, advice on diet, lifestyle and environmental factors, patients can rest assured they will receive advice from qualified pharmacists.
“As pharmacists we have all had a lot of extra training in natural health services.
“Our customer service focus is really, really important to us,” Erin says. “Monday to Friday, we have two pharmacists on duty - you’re always going to be able to talk to someone. “We also have a private consulting room which we often use to carry out sleep apnoea and diabetes consultations. “We have a pharmacist who has done a lot of work on diabetes - that’s a real point of difference for us.”
The pharmacy is also extending its range of skin and beauty products. Current brands on the shelves include L’Occitane, Grown, Natio and Miranda Kerr’s Kora Organics range. “Customers are welcome to suggest anything they would like us to stock here,” Erin says.
“We’re a very friendly and approachable team.”
